Rare Out of Print fiber art books

I should have mentioned when I posted this yesterday that the more expensive books (over $100) are "or best offer".  I do want to sell these.    :)

Now that the holiday season is upon us (and DH is still finishing up his degree in college), I'm going to sell some of the books I've had in my stash.  Most of these are out of print and hard to find.  Several of the books are listed for several hundred dollars on Amazon and Abebooks.  I'm selling mine for a bit less, because I'd like to be able to buy Christmas presents for my kids and family this year.    :)

The Weaving Book by Helene Bress.  This was printed in 1981, but is in like new condition.  It is OOP, and hard to find; listed at $499 on Abebooks and $268.85 on Amazon. 

I'm going to sell it for $250.

Doubleweave on Four to Eight Shafts  by Ursina Arn-Grischott.  This book was printed in 1999 and is OOP.  It isn't listed on Abebooks, but is listed on Amazon at $325. 

I'm selling it for $300; this copy is in like new condition.

SOLD  Aran Knitting by Alice Starmore.  This was printed in 1997 and is in like new condition.  It is OOP.  It is listed on Abebooks for $258.82 and Amazon for $289.

ON HOLD - Waiting for payment  Completely Angora by Kilfoyle and Samson.  This is the second edition book, in like new condition.  It is OOP, and listed on Abebooks for $35 and on Amazon for $45.

SOLD  Angora - A Handbook for Spinners by Erica Lynne.  This was printed in 1992 and is OOP.  The cover has a crease in it, and there is a small chocolate stain on the inside of the front cover.  Abebooks has this listed for $40 and Amazon for $45.

SOLD  Network Drafting: An Introduction by Alice Schlein.  This book was published in 1994, and is OOP.  It is spiral bound, and in like new condition.  Abebooks doesn't have this listed, but Amazon has it for $42.59.

Winding a Warp & Using a Paddle by Peggy Osterkamp, Number 1 Revised edition, published in 1998 (second printing).  From what I can find, this book is also OOP.  It is spiral bound and in like new condition.  It is currently listed on Abebooks for $39.95 and Amazon for $35.95.

SOLD  A Handweavers Notebook by Sharon Alderman (Swatch Collections from Handwoven Magazine).  From what I can find, this book is OOP.  Abebooks doesn't have a listing for it, but Amazon has it for $37.93.

SOLD  Hands On Rigid Heddle Weaving by Betty Linn Davenport.  This book is listed on Abebooks for $13.83.

SOLD Purl Stitch by Sally Melville.  I have two of these for some reason, so I'm selling one.  It is listed on Abebooks for $10.95.

I know you already know that I love to buy cookbooks.  Not just any cookbook will do, but I specifically like regional cook books.  So when I recieved an e-mail this morning from Jessica's Biscuit, letting me know that if I spent $50, not only would I receive free shipping, but also a year's subscription to either Gourmet, Bon Appetit, Condo Nast Traveler or Cookie, well, then, what must one do but shop?   ;-)

So, off to the discount book section, where I find:

Cape Cod Table, Journey Around Cape Cod & the Islands, New England Fish Tale, North End Italian Cookbook, Third Edition, Ben and Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream and Dessert Book, and the Utlimate Smoothie Book, Revised and Updated. 

Now, I already have the North End Italian Cookbook, but the Fifth Edition.  However, the recipes in it are so incredible that I ordered two copies; one for my mom and the other for my youngest brother Luke, who is an incredible cook.

But what made this deal even sweeter, is that because I spent $40, I was able to pick out a free book, and I decided on Quick & Delicious Bread Machine Recipes.  I plan to start making more breads, because it is much less expensive than going to a bakery to buy artisan bread, and mine taste better.

So, in a few days, I'll have 8 books on their way to me, plus a year's subscription to Bon Appetit.  How cool is that?

Looking for a good pattern book? Well, here it is!

This is a long over due review of a great pattern book! 

Sandy Miner wrote this wonderful book to benefit the Warm the Baby Project and Hats with Hugs.   This is a collection of 30 patterns  for preemies, toddlers, children and adults.  She even gives directions on how to Kool-Aid dye for her new "Mitt-sicles"

Sandy has some wonderful patterns for adults;  I'm particulary fond of Dawn's Angora headband (gee, wonder why?).  ;-)  And the Pink Ribbon Scarf.  For children's patterns, I really love Christopher's Red Hooded Sweater (perfect for a chilly Spring morning or Fall afternoon!) and the Navy/Marine Relief Blanket Baby Blanket, the perfect baby blanket for new babies and new moms. 

Sandy's patterns are easy to read, with bold type for important things for the knitter to find easily in the pattern, like the yardage needed for each item, what size needles and what knitting tools are needed.  I find this type of pattern to be for me!  I dislike having to search all over the pattern for what needles and notions I'll need, and Sandy puts it in an area easy to find and with the bold print.  There are good color photos in the book showing some of the completed items made from the patterns.

The Kool-Aid dyeing section is worth the price of the book alone.  Sandy's directions are clear and concise.  There are even c0lor pictures to show the process!
